Pastor Wesley C. Tolliver, an entrepreneur over several businesses, was born in Caroline County, Virginia. He is the only son of Gloria and the last Collis Tolliver. Pastor Tolliver has three sisters. While attending Bowling Green High School, he played several different sports. He loved participating in and watching sports, drag racing and collecting antique cars, but God had his hand on Pastor Tolliver.
At a very early age Pastor Tolliver’s grandfather, Wesley Collis Tolliver, instilled in him the importance of knowing who God is. After accepting salvation, Pastor Tolliver served faithfully as he grew in church. As Pastor Tolliver spiritually developed, he was ordained to the Diaconate Ministry and later chosen to be Chairman. He continued to be active in church as a Minister of Christian Education, Director of the New Member’s Ministry, Youth Ministry Coordinator, Facilitator for the Men’s Ministry and Evangelism Ministry just to name a few. He also taught Sunday School and Mid-Week Bible Study.
As Pastor Tolliver served God and His people, he heard and accepted the call into the Gospel Ministry at Mount Salem Baptist Church in Caroline County. He was licensed in 1996 to preach the Gospel and ordained in the year of 2000. Later after accepting his call into the ministry, Pastor Tolliver matriculated at the Virginia Seminary College, Virginia University of Lynchburg where he received the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Studies. Pastor Tolliver continued his religious studies at Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University where he received a Master of Divinity Degree. While pursuing his Masters Degree, Pastor Tolliver interned at Morning Star Baptist Church in Richmond, VA for several years under Rev. Dr. Tyrell O. Brown.
Pastor Tolliver continues to minister outside of the church by providing counseling to men in the 12 Step Program at the Adult Rehabilitation Center of the Salvation Army. Rev. Tolliver exhibits the scripture, Romans 13:8, “Owe no man anything, but to love one another, for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.” He tries to show that love to all in his reach.
Pastor Tolliver stays active in the local community. He has served as Chaplain for the City Government and Prison. He is always willing to offer a helping hand where needed. Pastor Tolliver desires for others to do well. He has been a little league football and basketball coach for several years. He is a member of Peninsula Baptist Association and Baptist General Convention of Virginia.
While serving on the ministerial team at St. Paul's Baptist Church, Richmond, VA, where the Senior Pastor is the Rev. Dr. Lance Watson, God called Pastor Tolliver to pastorate.
Pastor Tolliver pastored at The New Hope Baptist Church in Keysville, Virginia for several years. Many souls were baptized, saved, and many accomplishments were made under Pastor Tolliver’s pastorate and the church membership grew. Several ministries were developed and rebirthed such as, Youth Ministry, Greeter’s Ministry, and New Member’s Orientation Class. Pastor Tolliver envisioned a church van being purchased and within several months a church van was purchased and paid in full. A church constitution and by-laws document was needed for the welfare of the church and Pastor Tolliver sought out several members to start in the development of such a document.
God saw fit to birth the vision of Wheels of Faith Ministries through Pastor. Tolliver and his wife Rev. Adreania M. Tolliver in the Tidewater Area. At Wheels of Faith Ministries, several ministries such as a Women’s Conference were birthed to include Elijah Prep School, and a Leadership Course for Ministers and Leaders. At Wheels of Faith, several ministers were licensed and ordained to the Gospel Ministry. Pastor Tolliver felt the need to take the Word out to the communities; often Rev. Tolliver was found walking door-to-door spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ. Pastor Wesley and Rev. Adreania took the airways by force by developing a website and a marketing commercial. Spiritual Webinars and Bible Study were often provided online as a way to reach people across the world. That was accomplished as many individuals called in weekly from around the country.
Pastor Tolliver is married to Rev. Adreania M. Tolliver and together they have five children and a host of grandchildren.
Jesus tells us to “...love thy neighbor as thyself” as a second commandment after the first and greatest commandment: to love God with all of our heart, soul and mind. Matthew 22:39
